Anyone walking through the Altstadt of the historic Hanseatic town of Brilon and former capital of the Duchy of Westfalen wanders through many centuries. Encounters silent contemporary witnesses who, if they could tell stories, would fill moving novels. First mentioned in 973, Brilon grew into one of the most important Hanseatic cities in Westphalia.
Brilon's many sights - such as the town hall, one of the oldest in Germany, the market square or the Provost's Church - are well worth discovering on a tour of the old town. For refreshments, there are also numerous cafés and cozy restaurants.
The surrounding area has something to offer for all cycling ambitions: MTB routes within the Bike Arena Sauerland and the TrailGround Brilon, selected e-bike routes and the two low-slope river tours MöhnetalRadweg and Alme-Radweg.
