The village of Ohlenbach was established from 1830. In 1830 Johann Vogt was the first to settle from Westfeld to Ohlenbach and built the Braun house (today's Braun Inn). In the following years other inhabitants from Westfeld built farms there, then inhabitants from other villages followed. In 1948 the chapel was built. On January 1, 1975, Ohlenbach was incorporated into the town of Schmallenberg together with the community of Oberkirchen, to which it had belonged until then.
