Towards the east there is the Wasserschloss "Haus Assen", whose beginnings date back to the 14th century. In 1546 the present Renaissance castle was built by the master builder Laurenz von Brachum. In 1854-58 the neo-Gothic chapel was built. Today the Catholic order "Servants of Jesus and Mary" runs a boarding school for boys here.
