Soest - Ostönner lime tree

Ostönner Linde is a village part of Ostönnen. In former times there was a big lime tree here, supposedly an old court lime tree. After the division of the mark the first settlement took place from 1820. In 1854 the railroad connection Soest - Unna - Hagen was opened to traffic. In 1882 the railroad station Ostönnen (now closed) was built, which created jobs, especially through goods handling, and increased settlement. Today the settlement presents itself with very beautiful old and new orchards, which are of particular ecological importance and provide habitat and food for numerous animal species.
