Located in the Homert Nature Park, in the middle of the picturesque Hönnetal valley, Volkringhausen is known for its stone 3-arch bridge over the Hönne river with "Alter Schmiede" (old forge) and residential house in typical Sauerland half-timbered construction.
Due to its scenic location Volkringhausen is a popular starting point for tours in and around the Hönnetal.
The Reckenhöhle, a dripstone cave worth seeing, is accessible over a length of 500 m. It was discovered in 1888 when the innkeeper Franz Recke followed a hare that suddenly disappeared in the rock. He opened the "hole" and found a cave that was named after him. The passages and crevices he found run for kilometers through the limestone massif.
