The Charlottenquelle, tapped as a drinking water well in 1878, was named in honor of the deaconess Charlotte from the children's sanatorium. This hydrogen sulphide-containing, carbonated brine spring once served as a drinking and healing remedy for spa guests. Today, the Charlottenquelle is an integral part of the Sassendorf Salt Trails, a historical tour of Bad Sassendorf.
