The Bergische Panorama Radwege runs through the Ruhrgebiet, the Bergisches Land and the Sauerland. The route allows flexible stage planning. The clear orange signage helps you find your way. The route is characterized by significant engineering achievements: fourteen tunnels, viaducts up to forty metres high and numerous bridges. These constructions offer sweeping views over landscapes and insights into urban areas such as Wuppertal. Today, the former railroad infrastructure allows cyclists to explore the region in a special way. The tour through a low mountain range landscape rich in forests and water reveals traces of industrial culture. Along the way there are striking points, including the Müngsten Bridge Park under Germany's highest railroad bridge and the Wupper floating ferry, which requires physical effort to operate. The ascent to Burg Castle is possible by cable car, which transports bicycles without an electric drive. Part of the "Route of the Water Quintet" leads past dams, through Hückeswagen and Wipperfürth. The section from Marienheide to Olpe in the Sauerland integrates into the existing cycle path network. From May to October, the "Bergische FahrradBus" runs between Leverkusen-Opladen and Marienheide on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Stops are set up at Hückeswagen and Wipperfürth. This service offers cyclists the option of covering part of their journey in comfort by bus.
