The start of the Asten Uphill is at the Rothaar-Arena parking lot in Schmallenberg-Westfeld. After a short flat roll-in along the "Schwarzer Siepen", the route leads towards Hoher Knochen and the Berghotel Hoher Knochen. Continue in the direction of Kahler Asten past the hunting lodges. From here, the route becomes steep and stony in places. After the Hintersten Hoher Knochen, you already touch the Asten plateau and reach the Astenturm from the east, which also marks the summit and, at 843 m above sea level, the third highest point in North Rhine-Westphalia.
