The reason for this wonderful attraction was the Eder Valley Railway, which ran through Arfeld from 1911 to 1981. The model railroad enthusiasts recreated the local section of the old railroad on a tiny 1:87 scale.
The layout became larger and larger in the following years, so that the scenic beauty of the Black Forest, a high mountain range in the Allgäu and the new and old town now extend over the enormous exhibition area. The high volume of traffic is particularly impressive: Up to twenty trains are on the move at the same time and there is heavy traffic on the roads. Accidents are hard to avoid, so the fire department is also called out. And the railroad depot is a hive of activity, as ten steam locomotives have to be coaled, stripped of slag and watered. Many technical refinements provide surprises and make a visit to the model railroad friends entertaining. The layout not only makes children's hearts beat faster, but also delights adults.
