The former Böddeken monastery complex is located here. The history of the monastery and the settlement begins in 836/837 when the nobleman "Meinolf" founded the "Böddeken" convent with a donation. In 1409, the convent was converted into an Augustinian canon monastery.

After secularization, Böddeken became a state domain, but in 1822 it passed to the Lords of Mallinckrodt and is still in their possession today.

One kilometer south of Böddeken is the Meinolfus Chapel with the cemetery of honour created after the Second World War, where over 300 dead of the last war who fell in the former district of Büren have found their final resting place
