The Desenberg rises a good 150 meters from the plain of the Warburg Börde. The striking appearance of this cone-shaped mountain has always fascinated people. Not least because of the fantastic views that the summit of the mountain offers.

The remains of Desenberg Castle, about which there is a well-known legend, are still enthroned on the summit of the steep mountain. A brave knight from Saxony outwitted the dragon living on the Desenberg by holding out his reflective shield. The dragon was startled by the dragon he was suddenly confronted with. The knight took advantage of the dragon's inattention and slew it. Even today, the coat of arms of the owners "von Spiegel" still depicts three circular mirrors.
