In Nehden, bones of the iguanodon (toothed iguana) were found in a nearby quarry in 1978. A copy of the dinosaur is exhibited in the city museum in Brilon; the original can be seen in the Landesmuseium in Münster.

The Iguanodon is a genus of dinosaurs from the Ornithopoda group from the Early Cretaceous and is the largest and best known representative of the Iguanodontidae. Because of the relative frequency of the finds and an assumed comparable way of life one often speaks of the Iguanodon and its Hadrosauridae relatives as the "cows of the dinosaur age".
