At the beginning of the 20th century, this place was so lonely that the forester's families could not stay there for long. Today, it is precisely this closeness to nature and solitude that many people choose to visit. The Hohenroth forester's lodge is located at the crossroads of two ancient trade routes: the Iron Road and the Coal Road.
The forest information center is the hub for a wide range of activities relating to forest management, nature conservation, forest education and forest encounters. The joint project of the Waldland Hohenroth association and the Siegen-Wittgenstein Forestry Office attracts numerous visitors to the forests of the source of the Sieg, Eder and Lahn rivers every year.
Events, exhibitions, seminars and guided tours on forest-related and socially relevant topics are offered all year round. Interesting themed trails around the former forester's lodge invite visitors to discover nature. The game enclosure is a great experience, especially for the little ones.
