Experiences around the "Piener Kopf"
The hiking parking lot "Piener Kopf" is the starting point of numerous hikes around the Versetalsperre. A beautiful round tour starts here, which leads via Nierderholte, Gasmert, alternatively on the ridges above the Versetalsperre or along the banks of the dam. The "Nümmert", a hilltop with a height of 585 m above sea level, is also a popular hiking destination, as the hiking trails cross numerous high moors worthy of nature conservation. In spring, the "Herveler Bruch" south of the "Piener Kopf" should be visited. Since 1938 it has been protected as a natural monument, and thousands of snowflakes cover the forest with a white carpet. With its bell-shaped white flowers, the snowdrop, also known as the spring snowdrop, is one of the very early blooming plants. Depending on the location and weather, flowering can start as early as February.
