Hiking in picturesque nature
The Ilse Valley - enchanted and tranquil, this gem is one of the most beautiful valleys in Wittgenstein. The Ilse, which gives the valley its name, rises near Heiligenborn and meanders down to Feudingen, where it flows into the Lahn. There are many opportunities for hikers to explore the romantic and unspoiled nature here in the Ilse Valley along narrow paths and forest trails. Four A-paths start from the hiking parking lot: the A 1 to the beautiful Weidelbacher Weiher (4 km), the A 4 into the upper Ilse valley around the Wiedehuck (7 km), the A 3 leads you below the Inhaltberg (3 km) and the A 2 takes you through the Godelsbach valley (4 km). The hiking parking lot is also one of three starting points for the 16 km long Rothaarsteig trail "Ilsetalpfad", which is just as easily accessible via a feeder trail as the Lahnwanderweg.
Furtherhiking options:
From the parking lot, you can also start the Banfer local hiking trail B 2. This runs for 11 km over the Banfer Berg into the Ilsetal and from there via the Weidelsbacher Weiher back to the Indel.
