Around the "Teiche" plateau
The "Teiche" hiking parking lot is located on the ridge (600-750 m above sea level) of the Wittgenstein forest and mountain region. This offers ideal conditions for exploring the wooded recreation area:
The A 7 hiking trail (6.5 km) starts here, a beautiful circular tour that leads uphill and downhill through the Wittgenstein mountains. Along the way, there are not only fantastic views, but also the opportunity to descend into the picturesque villages of the Elsoff Valley. After passing Diedenshausen with its historic village center and magnificent half-timbered facades, the trail leads across meadows and through forests, the Lichtenberg and Schmitzkopf back to the starting point.
A circular trail: The A 6 trail (5.6 km) runs around the Kohl hill and the A 9 trail leads over a longer distance past the Petersberg and Schweizer Kopf, through the gem of Christianseck and along the Mennerbach stream back to the starting point.
C 1 circular trail: The C1 circular trail is particularly suitable for families and leads over a short distance of 7.6 km along forest paths, tarred roads and trails, through deciduous forests as well as meadows and pastures.
Rotmilan-Höhenweg: The Rotmilan-Höhenweg is a circular hiking trail through the Elsofftal valley that is around 44 kilometers long and spans several countries. The pentagonal signpost leads hikers and cyclists through the Wittgenstein villages of Elsoff, Christianseck, Diedenshausen and Alertshausen and the Hessian village of Neuludwigsdorf. An interesting "borderline experience" with fascinating views.
In winter, the toboggan run, ski slope and cross-country ski trails (3-12 km) invite you to get active.
TIP: After a hike or sporting activity, you can stop off at the Landgasthof Wittgensteiner Schweiz.
