The area around Hilchenbach offers many opportunities for wonderful mountain bike tours. However, it is often difficult to find your bearings in the forest and to explore the beautiful routes and circular tours, especially on longer routes.
A total of 10 sporty and attractive circular tours therefore start at Hilchenbach's market square. They are suitable for standard mountain bikes or e-mountain bikes.
Most of the tours can even be combined with the train, so you can choose shorter, easier or longer variants depending on your mood or fitness level. Cars can be parked in the surrounding parking areas in the city center for an unlimited period of time and free of charge; alternatively, you can travel by train.
With lengths of 30 to 70 kilometers - there are also some longer multi-day tours - the beautiful routes lead into the surrounding mountains and forests of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park. However, the routes are not signposted in the terrain, but are provided as GPS tracks for download (see under Cycling/MTB tours).
A 24-page brochure has been created to provide an overview and planning of the tours, in which all routes are summarized with a rough course, kilometer details, altitude profiles and refreshment stops. The routes shown on the map are for orientation purposes only and cannot be used as a cycling map.
At the historic market square in Hilchenbach, at junction number 12, there is a clearly laid out board with information on cycling according to the marked points. On the back of the board are the mountain bike tours including a QR code with a link to the exact tour descriptions. This allows spontaneous cyclists to decide on the marketplace which of the possible tours they would like to ride.
