The Padberg-Hof - an important hostel of the past
On the "Heidenstraße", a much-used trade route from Kölner Hof to Leipzig in earlier centuries, a resting place for merchants, carters and horses was established around 1800 in the Padberg-Hof, now Haus Ewers.
It was also in this house that Henriette Davidis wrote parts of her famous cookbook "Praktisches Kochbuch für die gewöhnliche und feine Küche" in the 19th century and named two dishes after Küstelberg.
