The Hugo Kracht hut is located roughly halfway between the Bad Laaspher Kurpark and the Entenberg and is a popular and ideal rest stop for hikers and cyclists. The large hut offers sheltered seating and tables inside as well as outside in summer. The exposed location offers wonderful views of the Hessian and Wittgenstein mountains.
There was already a refuge on this site in 1896, and it has existed in its current form since 1950. It was named after a great Laaspher supporter Hugo Kracht, a native of Gelsenkirchen, who was instrumental in the SGV's work, the creation of the local hiking network and the development of hiking tourism.
The hut was named in his honor and is still run by the SGV today.
