The natural location of the town of Kierspe between Oberberge and Sauerland offers a wide range of local recreational and leisure opportunities. With its varied landscapes, surrounded by numerous reservoirs and the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park, Kierspe is an attractive local recreation area. Attractive circular hiking trails, a golf course and many other leisure activities round off the wide range on offer.

One thing you shouldn't miss is the Schleiper Hamme and the Bakelitmuseum. The Schleiper Hamm is a hammer mill and dates back to the middle of the 19th century. The outdoor facilities with the two operating ponds and the shape of the building have been preserved in their original form to this day. Since 1989, the former hammer mill has been restored to its 1930s condition with turbine drive, transmission and spring hammer. The development of the Bakelite industry is documented in the upper part of the hammer mill. Bakelite was the first plastic to trigger a revolution in the production of technical articles. The first German Bakelitmuseum, which is housed in the former Kierspe Amtshaus, displays a diverse collection of everyday objects made from this plastic.

Other sights not to be missed during a visit to Kierspe are the Jubachtalsperre dam, the historic distillery, the Wienhagen tower, the Thingslinde tree and the museum dedicated to the Kierspe poet Fritz Linde.
