Hiking life on the Kindelsberg
Visible from afar, the Kindelsberg is the landmark of Kreuztal. There are many ways to explore it from the hiking parking lot. For example, you can take the A 1 ( km) over the Martinshardt to the Hessestein. The A 8 takes you around the Kindelsberg in a short loop of just under 3 km. On the other hand, the A 3 circular trail is a little more challenging at 9.5 km in length. This first leads to the award-winning nature park jewel, the 22 m high Kindelsberg Towerwhich was built by the SGV in 1907. From here, on a clear day, you have a magnificent view far beyond the Siegerland region, as far as the Siebengebirge to Bonn. The trail continues downhill towards Rodenull and the SGV local section's hiking home. The route then continues steadily uphill through the Zitzenbach valley via Martinshardt back to the starting point. There are several opportunities to take a break along the way, and you will also come across traces of centuries of mining activity, such as Haldens or tunnel entrances. From the hiking parking lot, you can also join the 14 km long Kindelsberg trail which provides information about mining and nature with the help of 24 information boards.
