Open meadow valleys, limestone grasslands with rare orchid occurrences, interspersed limestone rocks as well as rare Buchenwald forests - the hiking parking area "Kirchloh" invites you to discover the idyllic Melbecke valley with its rare natural treasures.
Round hiking tip through the nature reserve Melbecke and Rübenkamp: The 4.2 km long round hiking trail A13 leads you along the Fröndenberg with fantastic distant views and through the nature reserve "Melbecke and Rübenkamp". The Wacholderheide with rare orchids as well as the natural stage Elspe and the Vitus chapel, with a wonderful view over the Elspe valley, make this trail special.
Round hiking tip Melbecke valley: A fantastic panoramic view from the resting place Raizebeil near Obermelbecke awaits you on the 9.4 km long trail A15. But also the varied route through meadows, fields and the protected lime beech forests with its open rock cliffs as well as the picturesque village of Melbecke make the trail an experience.
Circular hiking tip around Elspe: The Kirchloh hiking parking lot is the starting point for the approximately 12.5 km long hike, which will take about 4 1/4 hours - great views reveal themselves on this hike over the mountains of Elspe. On comfortable paths, which lead through species-rich forest, the sun spoils you at exposed points. More information here.
