Cross-border hiking

The "Kühhude" hiking parking lot is the starting point for various walks and hikes. So you can enter the Rothaarsteigwhich heads south, not far from the parking lot, past the Saukopf (715 m) and the sculpture "Stein, Zeit, Mensch" (Stone, Time, Man) and has a very special highlight in store: here, the brave can dare to walk across the suspension bridge. The route then continues over the Rothaar ridge to Jagdhaus. To the north, the Rothaarsteig leads via the hilltop villages of Langewiese and Neuastenberg towards Kahler Asten, the most famous mountain in the Sauerland. Via the Rothaarweg (x2), the European long-distance hiking trail (E 1) or the valley variant of the Rothaarsteig, you can also hike to the small Schmallenberg district of Schanze and the"Kyrill-Pfad" nature park jewel there. The latter shows impressively how the storm area developed after the devastating hurricane in 2007. From Kühhude, there is also the option of entering the Forest Sculpture Trail(25 km), which offers art in nature. From Kühhude, you can walk this to Schmallenberg or in the direction of Bad Berleburg. With their eleven works of art along the way, internationally renowned artists have created an art trail that is unique, at least in Germany. In the direction of Schmallenberg, there are the sculptures "Kein leichtes Spiel", "Der Krummstab" and "Hexenplatz", while in the direction of Bad Berleburg, "Der Falke", "Die Grünstation" and "Das Goldene Ei" follow directly after the sculpture "Stein, Zeit, Mensch".

From the Kühhude hiking parking lot, you can also join the following trails: the Wittgenstein Panorama Trail or the 7th stage of the Robert Kolb Trail (X 6), which leads up the Rothaar ridge from Jagdhaus to Kahler Asten.

The hiking parking lot is also a good starting point for cyclists - it is possible to join the "Rothaar-Radroute" cycle path here.

In winter, cross-country skiers can make the Rothaar cross-country ski trail towards Albrechtsplatz or Kühhude 'unsafe'.
