The interactive hands-on exhibition on the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park, Möhne Dam and Water and Forest invites young and old to discover nature with all their senses. The landscape experience area provides information about the history, geology and ecology of the nature park's landscapes. In particular, the history, purpose and function of the Möhne Dam is explained in an informative way with films and models.
Water experience area
In the water experience area, we vividly show the path of water from drinking water supply to wastewater treatment. The interactive water column illustrates daily water consumption. We also provide information about the global water situation. Everyone can determine their own virtual water consumption at our consumption counter.
Waterfowl of Lake Möhnesee
The new exhibition unit "Waterfowl of Lake Möhnesee" clearly shows Lake Möhnesee as a habitat for waterfowl. Visitors can test their knowledge in a quiz, create a food web and learn about the migratory behavior of birds. They can also use augmented reality to watch short films on flight behavior, among other things, or simulate a waterfowl census. The topic of climate change and its impact on water supply is also addressed.
Forest experience
In the forest experience, visitors can experience the Arnsberg forest and the historical development of its use in a virtual flight. The new forest climate column illustrates the importance of the forest for our climate. The tactile sensory station is particularly suitable for blind and visually impaired people.
