Works from the first half of the 20th century, which place the city and region in a wider context with the international art scene, are of the greatest importance for Lüdenscheid. These are the works of the Westfalen painter Ida Gerhardi (1862-1927) and the Paul Wieghardt Foundation with almost 100 works by the Lüdenscheid-born painter Paul Wieghardt (1897-1969).
