Anröchte (approx. 11,000 inhabitants) lies on a valuable green sandstone deposit in the south-east of the district of Soest, on the edge of the Sauerland. In the town center is the St. Pankratius church, which was built from this stone around 1180. Around Anröchte and its villages, there are well-developed cycle and hiking trails to discover the diverse flora and fauna. Day tourists can follow in the footsteps of history - Anröchte is rich in listed buildings, with the Kurköln manor house in the center of town being particularly noteworthy. The local history association runs a stone museum in the town center, which can be visited barrier-free and for a small donation. Every year on the first weekend in August, either the Big Day Out Festival organized by the "JZI Anröchte e.V." takes place or the "W.I.R. Anröchte" invites you to the "Anröchter Steinfest". The forest outdoor pool is located on the Südring, which provides cooling and fun in summer.
