The Nenkersdorf watermill was first mentioned in a document in 1240. Until the 14th century, it belonged to the possessions of the lords of Hainchen Castle. The Nenkersdorf watermill has been privately owned by the Weber family for six generations. The Nenkersdorf watermill is still fully functional. Visitors have the opportunity to get to know the mill trade in every single step. The water to drive the over four-metre-high, overshot water wheel is supplied from the Siegen via a mill raceway several hundred meters long. Transmission belts supply the energy for three grinders (two roller mills and a grist mill) and numerous other devices, such as the elevator for the grain sacks. The well-preserved mill equipment with a stone store that is over 700 years old is still used today to grind small quantities of grain for private use.
