Nordhelle - Hiking on the Ebbekamm
The Ebbekamm is one of the most prominent mountain ranges of the nature park. It has a cool and humid climate with high precipitation. Therefore, spring and hillside bogs as well as bog and fen forests could develop on the southern slopes. The Ebbemoors are home to very rare plants such as bog line, sundew or cranberry. These moors are so unique that the area has been designated as a nature reserve with Europe-wide significance. The area of the entire protected area covers almost 1,000 ha.
The Nordhelle is with 663 m above sea level the highest elevation of the Ebbegebirge. Apart from the Robert-Kolb-Turm of the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV), the broadcasting towers of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk are also located here.
The parking lot for hikers is the starting point of the family-friendly circular trail "Around the Waldberg" or the circular trail"Ebbemoore".
