Historic sawmill with Nothelfer chapel
However, its early past is shrouded in mystery. What is known is that the sawmill was technically expanded and extended step by step in the 19th century. A wheelwright's workshop was built in 1896 and the turbine house with clover and grist mill was built in 1926. From 1911 and 1917, daily work was made easier by a single-cylinder engine and a slip ring motor.
The mill operated as a general contractor until 1983. Today, in addition to the aforementioned technology, the horizontal creel, the turbine and the threshing machine, as well as the unique rake spinning mill and the "generator" from around 1901, one of the oldest power generators in the Sauerland, can be admired.
Guided tours take place every Wednesday between 14:00-17:30 without appointment. Otherwise the sawmill in Remblinghausen is only open by appointment.
