Hiking in the headwaters
The river that gives the region its name, the Siegen, rises not far from the hiking parking lot. From here, it flows 155 km through forests, meadows and towns until it flows into the Rhine near Bonn. Around the source of the Sieg, secluded forests, almost untouched nature and charming views invite you to explore. Whether it's a walk or a sporty day trip, there is something for everyone. The adventurous forest adventure trail (1.5 km) with lots of little experiments is a worthwhile excursion for explorers of all ages. The hiking parking lot also provides access to various long-distance hiking trails, for example the sixth stage of the Rothaarsteig (14.3 km) towards Lahnhof, the Wittgensteiner Panoramaweg (146 km), the Siegerland-Höhenring (143 km), the Talsperrenweg (149 km) or the Netphener Rundweg (70 km), which makes a varied loop around the Johannland community, as it is popularly known.
From the parking lot, you can also hike towards the small village of Großenbach.
