The Glörtalsperre is open to visitors for swimming. A spacious bathing area with a kiosk and DLRG station on the north bank attracts visitors to the dam. The use of the bathing area is basically free for all visitors. The time of use is not limited. Bathing is at your own risk. From May to August the rescue station of the DRLG is manned on weekends.
A nice playground for children invites to climb, shimmy and slide. For all sports enthusiasts there are different trim devices to train.
Around the Glörtalsperre leads a good 3 kilometers long circular trail, mostly at ground level, mostly gravelled or with solid forest floor as underground. Various themed information boards provide interesting information about the flora and fauna along the trail. In between, forest sofas and benches offer seating for resting and beautiful views of the dam.
Also at the Glörtalsperre is the youth hostel, which can be rented by groups for a stay accordingly. The youth hostel is an adfc Bett+Bike certified accommodation.
In the front area of the dam, near the dam wall, is the house Glörtal with nice outdoor gastronomy, which invites you to stay. Below there is also a small snack bar, which is also popular with bikers.
At a distance of about 2 kilometers there is the camping site Glörfeld, which also offers places for visitors.
