Neuenrade
Green in cities - that is quality of life. And there is plenty of both in Neuenrade. A harmonious coexistence of leisure, life, living and working is what makes this lively small town so attractive.
Neuenrade is attractively situated in a flat valley, surrounded by forests and meadows. The Hönne, the river that gave its name to an entire region, rises here - the Hönnetal vacation region.
The Hönne town and its rural districts form a varied hiking scenery with the long-distance hiking trail Sauerland-Höhenflug, the exciting forest adventure trails, easy walks and challenging day hikes. The ascent to the Quitmannsturm guarantees great views. Likewise, sightseeing flights offer completely new insights and views of the land of a thousand mountains. Mountain biking in the forest or on a racing bike on a round tour of the Bike Arena Sauerland, sports enthusiasts can explore the area. And those who like it leisurely canstroll through the alleys of the historic Altstadt of Neuenrade in warm weather and lick a delicious scoop of ice cream or enjoy the sun's rays in the outdoor pool.
Well known far beyond the city limits is the traditional horse and stall market in March of each year - affectionately called "Gertrüdchen". Today, it is the first large folk festival in the region with a funfair, market stalls and, as before, a horse market.
Locals know it, guests are surprised by the vineyard in the middle of the Sauerland, as well as by the Motte, an original wooden tower hill castle, where even the bond for life can be made. Particularly worth seeing are the late Gothic Antwerp folding altar in the St. Lambertus church in the Affeln district and the Rennofen near Gut Berentrop, the best preserved of its kind in the Märkischer Kreis. Varied cultural events complete the leisure opportunities.
But what would all this be without attractive housing and interesting jobs? The tranquil Hönne town is home to some of the most important medium-sized companies and even world market leaders.
Guests can easily find a suitable temporary home among the diverse range of hotels, inns, guesthouses, vacation apartments and houses. Restaurants, cafés and bistros serve many a culinary treat.
