Hiking in the Obernautalsperre area
From the "Trubach" hiking parking lot, you can explore the forests and mountain ranges around the nearby Obernautalsperre dam. Not only is a hike to Alte Burg, a former Celtic fortress of which the outer ring walls are still visible today, worthwhile, but also the nature park gem "Forest Information Center Forsthaus Hohenroth" with an adjoining fallow deer enclosure and café is well worth a visit. From the forester's lodge, there are further opportunities for exploration: e.g. the Kyrill Trail or the springs around the Lahn, Siegen and Eder springs. From the hiking parking lot, it is also worth taking the short but scenic A 1, which runs towards the 477 m high Kemerling. The longer route via the A 3 (6 km) is also recommended. With fantastic views of the dam and Alte Burg, the trail leads steadily uphill to the crossroads not far from the Nollenkopf. From here, the trail descends towards the small Netph district of Beienbach. You then hike back to the starting point below the Gösberg. Last but not least, the Obernautalsperre itself is a great place for a walk.
You can also join the varied Netpher cycle ring from the hiking parking lot.
