Hiking experiences in Wingeshausen
Two beautiful circular trails, A 3 (3.7 km) and A 1 (6 km), start at the "Westerbach" hiking parking lot and give you a good impression of the Wingeshausen landscape. The latter trail(A 1) first leads through meadows and forest into the Langenseifen valley. From there, you have a wonderful view of the Homberg opposite. Passing a few fish ponds, the trail follows the Westerbach stream back to the hiking parking lot. Here you also have the opportunity to follow the Rothaarsteig trail "bison-trail" (13.5 km), which invites you on a discovery tour through varied forests on the Rothaar ridge. It is particularly worth making a detour to the nature park jewel "Wisent Wilderness on the Rothaarsteig", where you can experience the bison - Europe's largest land mammals - up close. The bison are also the focus of the 40 km cycle tour "Strong landscape-strong animals", which you can also join from the hiking parking lot.
Further tips:
The 146 km Wittgenstein Panorama Trail also runs past the parking lot. The 4th stage (10 km) starts here from Wingeshausen towards the town of Bad Berleburg.
Not far from the parking lot, climbing enthusiasts can tackle the "Kapplerstein" rock.
Where to stop for refreshments: the Sonnenhofer is around 10 minutes from the parking lot .
