Today's church in Wingeshausen was built as a late Romanesque hall church, probably in the middle of the 13th century. The first documentary mention of the place dates back to 1332, due to a dispute with two noblemen from Oberhundem. The church is in the late Romanesque style with Gothic elements. The bell is from the 14th century.
In 1822, there was a major fire in the church tower on the west side.
A special feature of the congregation, however, is the high esteem in which music is held. In 2007, the church was given a new organ; numerous organ sponsors made this musical investment in the future possible with their donations.
