After starting in Arnsberg, this long tour leads through the Arnsberg Forest to the beautiful Möhnesee, which is almost completely circumnavigated. After Hirschberg, there is a long but moderate climb over the Lattenberg before the route undulates over Berge and Calle to Meschede. After Schüren airfield, there is a fast descent to Wenholthausen and a longer climb to the beer metropolis of Grevenstein. A serpentine descent over the Hellefeld Höhe leads back to Arnsberg.
A rescue point system has been installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycle network.
Coming from the Rhineland or Ruhrgebiet, you can reach Arnsberg via the Dortmund junction on the regional express train in around 45 minutes or via Hagen/Schwerte in around 40 or 35 minutes, with regional express trains running every 40 minutes.Coming from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe (R17/R57 "Obere Ruhrtalbahn"), you can reach Arnsberg by regional express train in approx. 2 hours.
Coming from Dortmund on the A44, you can reach Arnsberg via the "Kreuz Werl" junction. Arnsberg is signposted from there. To reach the Altstadt of Arnsberg, take exit no. 65 from the A 46.If you are coming from Kassel (A 44), you can either take the Soest exit (exit no. 56) via the B 229 towards Möhnesee to Arnsberg or you can also drive to the Kreuz Werl junction.From Soest, you can reach Arnsberg via the B 229, passing the beautiful Möhnesee.
