Bike Arena Sauerland - Rothaargebirge & Medebach Bay

Radeln nach Zahlen / Outdooractive Touren / Bike Arena Sauerland - Rothaargebirge & Medebach Bay

The landscapes on this long road bike tour from Winterberg could not be more contrasting. On the one hand, the rugged Rothaargebirge mountains with their numerous gradients and, on the other, the almost Mediterranean-like Medebach Bay, which is also known as the Tuscany of the Sauerland.

After the start in Winterberg, there is a long descent from Altastenberg past the Großer Bilchen and down the beautiful Sorpetal. Via Grafschaft and Fleckenberg, you reach the long and serpentine ascent over the Rothaargebirge mountains into the Eder valley. We follow this for a few kilometers flat to Bad Berleburg. A short detour into Wittgensteiner Land brings us back to the Sauerland. From Hallenberg, we slowly make our way into the Medebach Bay: the landscape becomes increasingly open and more moderate. After Berge, there is a long climb up the Schlossberg near Küstelberg. In total, there are around 370 meters of altitude to conquer. The finish is already within reach, but before we can recover from the tour in Winterberg, there is a short detour via Grönebach.
