Bike Arena Tour No. 45

1st route section

We biked first of all to the biathlon facility. Past the source of the Diemel on the mountain "Auf'n Knoll", one of the first distant views on this tour lets our view of Titmaringhausen and the Medebacher Bay wander. Up to this point, the route features a few short trails that give us an idea of what's to come. The first real climb to the Kruttenberg follows. Here we have a panorama of Korbach, with the foothills of the Kellerwald National Park and on the right a view of the border area between NRW/Hessen. A 4.2 km long partly rough, partly flowy trail, over the coal pile Toten Mann, over the Hillekopf down to the Strycktal sweeten the first section of the route for us. Attention: from the Hildfelder Höhe there is a trail descent, which is laid out next to the gravel road.

All trails into the valley now lead us over the Mühlenkopfschanze to the starting point, but these trails are no longer marked.

2nd trail section

From the Strycktal it goes 175 Hm up to the high heath plateau "Neuer Hagen". From kilometer 20 the suspension elements are called into action. The first section of the trail is a root passage around the heath plateau, followed by the Biggestein downhill towards Niedersfeld. This blocky descent keeps the pulse up. But what is the banal saying: "where it goes downhill, it also goes uphill again" and in this case on the highest mountain in NRW, the 847 m high Langenberg. So that the speed riders can also get their money's worth, we brake down a gravel slope into the Hoppeck valley, whereby we should not forget the obligatory photo "Willingen from above" at the lift line of the Sonnenlift. In the valley it goes right again unsigned back to Willingen.

3rd section

We follow the path to the right next to the railroad tracks in the direction of Brilon Wald. After 2.6 km, in a hollow, we leave the gravel path and bike through a too grown path under a railroad underpass, then over a no longer quite intact stream bridge to the main road. Now it is called, chain right, from 480 Hm to 801 Hm , equal to 5 km climb without recovery on the Hoher Eimberg. At the top briefly sucked a gel a sip from the hydration bladder and then the legendary Hoher Eimberg Kammweg and the flowing serpentines down into the Lommerke. At the top of the Kammweg you have a view as far as the Soest Börde.

End of the 3rd section here you can take the main road to the right, again unsigned to Willingen.

4th section

We go around Schwalefeld to get into the Aartal valley and climb uphill one last time until we almost reach the Orenberg. A fast trail leads us slightly downhill to the "Drei Dörfer Eck" trailmäßig it continues to above Schwalefeld. A short gravel section follows to then get close to the Orenberg ski jump and enjoy the last trail descent to Willingen. Here again be careful, the last 3 meters of trail are steps that end on a lightly traveled road. So eyes on it could come but times a car!
