The route starts at the Kuhmarkt in Lippstadt, in the immediate vicinity of the Lippstadt town hall square. From there it goes in the direction of Lipperode along the castle ruins. The Lipperode castle ruin is a former Lippstadt moated castle at the Lippe river crossing. It was first mentioned in a document in 1248 and was surrounded by a strong redoubt between 1605 and 1609. Today, only the remains of walls, moats and ramparts remind us of this.

The route continues past Lake Albers, which invites you to swim in the summer, to the "Freie Stuhl". On a sand hill to the left of the Boker-Heid canal, on the border of Lipperode, Westenholz and Mastholte, directly at the restaurant "Zum Freien Stuhl", stands a triangular stone. It bears three different coats of arms: The Lippe rose, the eagle with the letters WAGzR, i.e. Wenzel August Graf zu Rietberg and a lozenge coat of arms with the Bavarian lion and the letters CABiP, i.e. Clemens August, Bischof zu Paderborn. The stone marks the place of the former "Freystuhl". At that time, the Femegericht was held under a tree at this court site. However, one may only be vaguely reminded of such serious times in view of the idyllic countryside.

Another break is offered at the Mastholte Lake. Every cyclist enjoys a breather at this beautiful spot in direct contact with nature. Thus rested, it then goes off busy streets via Bad Waldliesborn back to Lippstadt. On the way, by the way, you pass St. James. This pilgrimage church is located directly on the Way of St. James, which, as is well known, ends at some point in Santiago de Compostela.

The route can also be taken from Bad Waldliesborn or Mastholte.
