Three difficult climbs are the challenge of this relatively short mountain bike tour. The first section is a flowing descent to Neuastenberg. This is followed by the first climb up to the "forest village" of Mollseifen. Simply descend and take a break at the Lennequelle spring on the Kahler Asten or climb the Astenturm tower. A real highlight is the trail descent through dense coniferous forest down to Züschen.
To climb the ridge between Liesen and Züschen, you have to pedal hard again. The reward for your efforts is a wonderful view of the green mountain landscape from the top. Mountain bikers can take a breather on the route through the fields to Hesborn - but then there are more root passages in the forest.
A long descent finally leads into the Orketal to Ehrenscheider Mühle: perfect for gathering strength for the last crisp climb up to Winterberg.
