In the middle of the village of Oberhundem you will find the listed pastorate dating from 1685, whose lovingly restored heart has housed the only embroidery museum in the Sauerland since 1981. The historic rooms, in which a fireplace provides warmth in winter, with their rustic brickwork form a charming contrast to the fine hand embroidery.
Parament embroidery, white embroidery, gossamer shadow embroidery ... whoever takes a closer look and wants to learn a little about these and many other techniques will recognize the art and patience of this ancient craft. During a guided tour, the visitor will learn one or the other story behind the embroidery, like that of the little hidden message of a girl in her sampler from 1780, embroidered with her own hair. It is close to our heart to preserve and pass on this hundreds of years old art and the knowledge around the craft.
