Cross-border hiking
Located right on the border with Hessen, the "Am Didoll" hiking parking lot offers many opportunities to explore the hilly and scenic area. The "Weitblick" (6 km) is the start of a beautiful circular tour that initially leads downhill into the Finken valley. In addition to the junipers, orchids and other rare plant species, hikers have the chance to observe the red-backed shrike, a characteristic bird species of the hedgerows and bushes. Passing the refuge, the trail then leads uphill to the highest point of the tour, the "Stein" at around 640 m above sea level. Here you can enjoy a panoramic view before returning to the starting point. The circular hiking trails A 2 (9 km) into Wellrichhäuser Bachtal, A 3 (6 km) around Didoll or A 4 (5 km) around Sehrberg also start here. The hiking parking lot also provides access to the Wittgensteiner Panoramaweg, the Schieferweg (X23), the main hiking trail X15 (Uplandweg) or the 12 km long Richsteig.
