The Volme, which has its source here, has a length of 48 km and ultimately flows into the Ruhr near Vorhalle.

The Volmequelle lies at 465 m above sea level. The five Jubach, Glör, Enneppe, Hasper and Heilenbecker dams (which are also beautiful excursion destinations) are located in the catchment area of 412 square kilometers. On its way through the Volme valley, the Volme also crosses the other Oben-an-der-Volme municipalities of Kierspe, Halver (Oberbrügge) and Schalksmühle.
