Recommended seasons
After starting in Olsberg, the tour begins with a short climb to Gevelinghausen. After passing Schloss Gevelinghausen, you turn into the valley of the Elpe and follow it to Altenfeld. Shortly before Bödefeld, the tour turns right into the idyllic Valmetal. Up to Ramsbeck it is always slightly downhill.
In Ramsbeck you pass directly by the visitor mine, a visit is definitely worthwhile. From here the route leads along the so-called "little train". On the former narrow-gauge railroad line, more than 500,000 tons of freight were transported from the Ramsbeck mine to Bestwig in the years 1897-1952. The route continues via Heringhausen to Bestwig. At junction 16 at Bestwig town hall, you cycle uphill along the RuhrtalRadweg, which leads back to Olsberg.
To finish and relax, a visit to the newly designed Kneipp adventure park is highly recommended.
