Ice cream and café route Plettenberg-Herscheid with Oestertalsperre dam

The round trip starts in the heart of Plettenberg near the pedestrian zone. Here you can have a little refreshment in the ice cream parlors or cafes. After that, the route goes comfortably along the Else river for "cycling in". The first small ascent is experienced before the village of Köbbinghausen. After that, the route continues in the direction of the museum station of the Märkische Museumseisenbahn. Here a short break is recommended, on driving days you can take a ride with the historic steam locomotive in one of the lovingly restored carriages.

After the Hüinghausen airfield, the more demanding part of the tour starts, Herscheid is a few meters higher in altitude. In Herscheid there are numerous places to stop for refreshments, as well as an ice cream parlor and a café.

At the end of Herscheid, a somewhat larger mountain must be conquered. The view afterwards compensates for everything. From now on, the tour is almost all downhill. In a scenic location, the Oestertalsperre is reached, with a short stretch on an unpaved bike path that is easy to ride with touring bikes. The cycle path then follows the Elsebach to Plettenberg. Once you arrive in Plettenberg, you can refresh yourself in one of the numerous cafés and ice cream parlors.

The 32 km long round tour is a sporty ambitious round, with climbs, but with many opportunities to take a break. The tour can be cycled well by touring bikes and mountain bikes in 2:30 to 3 hours (no breaks considered). Ideal for pedelecs. The tour is not suitable for road cyclists.
