Plettenberg: MTB mountain goat tour

The circular tour starts in the heart of Plettenberg at the office of Plettenberger KulTour GmbH. After just a few meters, you can stop for refreshments in the ice cream parlours or cafés. The route then takes you past the town hall into the Grünetal valley, one of the four valleys in the town of Plettenberg. The first small climb to get used to the route begins at the last houses in the town center. Once in the Grünetal valley, a new cycle path initially runs relatively flat alongside the Grünebach stream. This is followed by the second, somewhat more challenging ascent.

Once you arrive in Landemert, the Gasthof Käsebrink with its home-style cooking invites you to take a break and enjoy a refreshing drink. Opening hours are from 5 p.m. (except Tue, Wed) and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays.

This is followed by 2 km of unsurfaced field and forest path, which is easy to ride on a mountain bike (or on a touring bike or pedelec if the route is dry and you are an experienced cyclist). At the end of the field path, the tour continues for 150 m on the country road and then through the village of Hülschotten.

Once you reach Sonneborn, all the climbs are over. From now on, the route is downhill on a tarmac road, mainly through the forest. Cyclists can look forward to a beautiful, long descent with pure nature. The descent is only interrupted by the sleepy little hamlet of Humberg. On the descent, watch out for deer and wild boar, especially at dusk. After the descent, the cycle path leads back to the town of Plettenberg.
