Schützenhalle in Stockum
Schützenhalle in Stockum
This tour takes you along fields, meadows and streams mostly on cycle paths or farm tracks through the Sunderan villages. On the way you will pass the memorial stone 'Stockumer Halt' and the Bönkhauser Bachtal. In the village center of Endorf stands the 'Strackenhof', the oldest stone house in the Kurkölnische Sauerland. Almost in ruins, it has been lovingly renovated in recent years and now houses a branch of the Sundern registry office (visit possible).
In Sundern, near the Severin company, you can stop off at the "HOF-Cafe".
Further highlights of the tour are the Sorpedamm with its cascade-shaped overflow of the Sorpesee, the compensatory pond below and the power plant. In Langscheid there are numerous opportunities for rest and relaxation on the beautiful Sorpe promenade or the catering establishments.
This tour starts at the Schützenhalle in Stockum. From here you cycle up the "Bachstraße" and pass the Stockum estate (Cora's Cafe). Along the fields and meadows you cycle up the hill until you reach a fork at the top between two farms, where you turn right. After about 800 m the path bends to the left and brings you to the memorial stone "Stockum Halt". Stay on this path, it leads you down into the Bönkhauser Bachtal. From here you can either turn left and take a shortcut to Recklinghausen or turn right towards Bönkhausen. We turn right and follow the brook to Bönkhausen. From Bönkhausen you follow the road L842 to the left to Endorf. Almost at the end of the village you will find the bus stop 'Silbachstraße' on the left side of the road. Here you turn left and follow the 'Silbachstraße' until you arrive at a small industrial area. Before the bridge, turn left again and follow the bike path that leads you to Recklinghausen.Turn left again in the direction of Sundern and follow "Recklinghauser Straße" until you reach the Severin company. At the traffic circle there you take the 2nd exit and follow the road further (tube). If you want to stop at the "HOF-Cafe" (is on the left side), take the3. Exit in the traffic circle. Before the traffic light turn right (Ewiger Weg) and after approx. 350 m turn left again into "Selschede Weg" until you reach a fork. Here you follow the "Hauptstraße" on the left, which leads you to the city center. Follow the pedestrian zone to the end and you will reach a bridge that leads over the river "Röhr". Here your bike path continues on the left just before the bridge. Via the so-called 'Rentnerweg' you will reach a small industrial area. Here you continue straight on and follow a gravel path into the forest. At the first fork in the road, take the path up to the left and take the first exit to the right. Along the Röhr and the industrial area "Dümpel" you reach after 2,3 km at an asphalted road the "Gut Selmke" in Stemel. Here you drive up the road to the left until the next fork and turn right.Almost at the Sorpesee dam, cross the cascading overflow of the Sorpesee over a small bridge. Below are the balancing pond and the power plant. The path goes halfway over the dam, into the forest and ends at the "Sorpestraße". Turn left up this road until you reach the parking lot at the Sorpedamm. Here you turn left and cycle across the parking lot until you reach the top of the Sorpe promenade. In front of the lake stage you cycle left over the Sorpedamm and follow the cycle path along the Sorpetalsperre to Amecke. Arrived at the landing stage in Amecke, continue straight ahead (Seestraße), along the reservoir to the village center of Amecke. When you reach the main crossroads, turn left in the direction of Stockum and follow this road until you leave the village. Opposite the castle and golf course, turn left again in the direction of Sundern. After approx. 1.2 km, you have just left the village and reached the heights, turn right (Illingheimer Str.) and drive through the fields to Seidfeld. Arrived in Seidfeld at the main road (L686), cross it (be careful!) and follow the cycle path to Stockum on the right. Behind the agricultural machinery shop turn left into the "Rothländerweg" and you will reach the main road. Now turn left for another 50 m over the "Stockumer Straße" and then directly left again. Via the street 'Am Hafen' you reach your starting point. In Stockum many restaurants invite you to a final stop.Since 2015, the entire Sauerland region has been signposted with the junction system:www.radeln-nach-zahlen.de/de/Das-Konzept-Radeln-nach-Zahlen/Knotenpunktkarte
A rescue point system is installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis district, Märkischer Kreis district, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found, among other things, on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycling network.
You can reach the starting point of the tour by public transport via the train station in Arnsberg and a bus connection to Sundern.
At the starting point you will find a parking lot, which is suitable as a starting point for your bike tour.
