The route runs largely in the central city area between Arnsberg and Hüsten on the RuhrtalRadweg or the statewide cycle path network running in the Ruhrtal.

The starting point is the Neumarkt in Alt-Arnsberg. From here you follow the RuhrtalRadweg westwards via Obereimer and Bruchhausen to Hüsten. From there the route leads uphill via Herdringen (castle park) to the Oelinghausen monastery. From the monastery the route leads downhill along the Baumbach and Herdringen to the DB station Neheim-Hüsten.

Via the RuhrtalRadweg and the state-wide cycle path network, you are then guided along the north side of the Ruhrtal towards Alt-Arnsberg. From there, the RuhrtalRadweg takes you in an easterly direction via Uentrop to the 2nd monastery, Rumbeck Monastery. From Rumbeck it goes back through the Arnsberg settlement areas Stadtbruch and Lüsenberg to the RuhrtalRadweg and back to Neumarkt with a final visit to the 3rd nearby monastery Wedinghausen.
