A loop along the Lenne to Elspe, the site of the Karl May Festival, and back to Altenhundem.
Lennestadt-Altenhundem
Lennestadt-Altenhundem
From Altenhundem train station (Lennestadt) the tour goes along the Lenne river. The tour runs along a section of the SauerlandRadring. In Meggen, high above the Lenne valley and visible from afar, are the Sauerland Pyramids, inside which is the Galileo Park. Right next to it is the Siciliaschacht mining museum.
However, the tour continues to Grevenbrück. From there, the tour continues to Elspe, the site of the famous Karl May Festival. Up to Halberbracht, the highest point of the tour, it goes steadily uphill. The reward for your efforts follows immediately, because until Langenei, where you meet the Lenne again, it's all downhill. Here you ride again on the SauerlandRading and via Kickenbach you then get back to the starting point of the round in Altenhundem.
Altenhundem - Meggen - Trockenbrück - Elspe - Oberelspe - Halberbracht - Langenei - Kickenbach - AltenhundemSince 2015, the entire Sauerland region has been signposted with the junction system:www.radeln-nach-zahlen.de/de/Das-Konzept
A rescue point system is installed throughout the region (Soest district, Hochsauerlandkreis district, Märkischer Kreis district, Olpe district and Siegen-Wittgenstein district). Rescue points can be found, among other things, on the information boards at the junctions of the Südwestfalen cycling network.
The route can be reached via the Altenhundem train station.
