Plettenberg: AquaMagis Tour XS

The circular tour starts in the immediate vicinity of the AquaMagis Plettenberg adventure pool on the Lenne cycle path. First, you cycle comfortably along the Lenne for a while. Directly after the Else flows into the Lenne, the path turns right. The route now runs along the Else and passes the town center of Plettenberg. The first small climb is before the village of Köbbinghausen. The route then continues towards the museum station of the Märkische Museumseisenbahn.
A short break is recommended here; on train days, you can take a ride on the historic steam locomotive in one of the lovingly restored carriages.

After Hüinghausen airfield, the more challenging part of the tour begins, as Herscheid is a few meters higher. In Herscheid, there are numerous places to stop for refreshments as well as a café and an ice cream parlor along the tour. Once you arrive at the Fattorel ice cream parlor in Herscheid, the tour takes a sharp right at the Schützenhalle and heads into the mountains towards Rärin. Several sections with beautiful views over the mountains are worth noting. Before Rärin, the path branches off in the direction of Wellin. The Waldhotel Wellin invites you to take a leisurely break.

The wild and romantic part of the tour then begins. At first, the cycle path runs over easy gravel, then turns into an easy forest path. Finally, the route descends quickly on asphalt and after a few minutes and several changes of direction, the tour turns left onto a well-gravelled forest path, most of which leads downhill. The cyclist finally returns to civilization and arrives in Pungelscheid.

The route passes the districts of Pungelscheid, Riesei and Königsburg before crossing the Lenne and arriving in Werdohl at the town hall.

From Werdohl, the cycle path initially runs along the road, then jumps off and runs along the railroad line in the Kettling industrial area with McDonalds. After the Bauckloh industrial estate, the cycle path joins the main road, on which you have to cycle with caution for approx. 500 m. In the district of Teindeln, the path leaves the road, crosses the railroad and the Lenne and meanders leisurely along the valley towards Plettenberg.

Now it goes over and along the Lenne again. After the Lenne bridge in Ohl, the last small ascent can be conquered. The tour ends at the AquaMagis Plettenberg adventure pool.

The 41 km short tour is a sporty and ambitious tour with 490 meters of altitude difference, which has an uphill course up to the halfway point of the tour with a moderate gradient without extremely steep passages. There are numerous opportunities to take a break. The tour can be ridden by trained touring cyclists, e-bikers and mountain bikers. You should allow 3 hours of pure riding time for the tour. As the tour also runs on smaller roads and part of the main road, it is suitable for older children if they are confident on the road. The tour is not suitable for racing cyclists.
